Warsaw Painters, Krakow Painters. The Meeting

Treść

The works of seven artists connected with Warsaw and Krakow constitute – almost as puzzle elements – the remarkable and diverse picture of “the art called naive”.

The strength of expression characterising the presented works is an effect of the life experiences, sensitivity and personalities of the authors, as well as their sincerity and creative fantasy which was not restricted by academic canons.

We invite you to the meeting of two museums, two cities and seven distinct worlds of painting, in which imagination and unrestrained need of creation play the main role.

Aleksander Jackowski, a connoisseur and propagator of „free-standing art”, wrote at the end of the 20th century: „Especially now, in the age of huge threats which concern environment, nature, health, values, and psyche, this art is exceptionally valuable, just due to its human dimension; due to its sincerity and intimacy” (Sztuka zwana naiwną [The Art Called Naive], Warszawa 1995).

After nearly 30 years, the currency of these words is surprising. Does the art which we present to you delight and affect the next generation of viewers?
