HOUSE OF ESTHER, KRAKOWSKA STREET 46

Treść

Access, entrance, ticket office, cloakroom, temporary exhibition

The Museum's second location is at 46 Krakowska Street in Esterka's House, a historic building dating back to the late 14th century. It houses the Museum Library, the Director's offices, the Secretariat, Accounting and Administration, as well as the offices of some of the substantive staff.

The Museum also organises temporary exhibitions at Esterka House, which are usually located in the basement and on the ground floor of the building.

Entrance from Trynitarska Street – no architectural barriers

At the entrance to the building from Krakowska Street 46, you will encounter an 18-centimetre stone step down. This is a significant architectural barrier, so we invite you to use the barrier-free entrance from Trynitarskiej Street if necessary. Blue signposts will guide you to this entrance. Turning from Krakowska Street onto Trynitarska Street, 20 metres from the turn, you will see an entrance gate on your left, which opens when you ring the bell. The bell is located on the left side of the gate, at a height of 100 cm. The gate opens inwards. Go straight ahead after the gate. Unfortunately, the courtyard surface is covered with uneven paving stones. It is possible to navigate with a wheelchair, but it is not the most comfortable. After 50 metres, you will find a door on the left that will lead you inside the building. Behind the door, there is a ramp with a handrail, allowing people with mobility disabilities to move around freely. Once inside, you will find yourself in a small hall. To the right of the entrance, there is a toilet adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. Unfortunately, due to limited space, we have not been able to provide a comfortable place to change nappies, a so-called comfort corner. We are still considering how to solve this problem. Further on, on the right, behind the toilet, there is a self-service cloakroom. Opposite the entrance is the reception desk. The reception desk at Dom Esterki is equipped with an induction loop.

Moving around the building

You can move between floors using the stairs (inside the building) or the lift, or more precisely, the enclosed passenger lift located outside in the courtyard. If you wish to use the lift, please inform the receptionist.

When using the lift, you must press and hold the button with the number of the floor you want to reach. The buttons are large and marked with contrasting numbers in black print and Braille. In case of any problems, there is a clearly marked yellow and black emergency button inside the lift. The lift doors are glazed. When using the lift, you can hold on to the handles located next to the control panel, on either side of the buttons. Do not lean against the walls or doors.

Temporary exhibition on the ground floor

The entrance to the temporary exhibition is located on the courtyard side. After purchasing a ticket, go out into the courtyard and turn left. A ramp with a handrail leads to the exit. The entrance to the exhibition is located on the left side of the courtyard exit, 100 metres away, behind a wall with the exhibition title on it. Behind the entrance door, there is a 25 cm step with a ramp.
